It adds up one hour at a time.
Every lesson is a line in your logbook and a line on your invoice. The four things below decide how many lines it takes.
What actually determines your total
Nobody can promise you an exact number up front — anyone who does is guessing. These four things decide it.
- 1
Frequency
How often you fly is the #1 cost driver. We recommend 2 to 3 lessons a week. Long gaps mean re-learning and more hours.
- 2
Preparation
Showing up ready — ground study done, procedures chair-flown — makes every paid hour count.
- 3
Aptitude & goals
Every student learns at their own pace, and your destination (a certificate, a rating, a career) shapes the plan.
- 4
Medical & materials
Plan for a medical certificate to begin, plus books, a headset, and FAA exam fees.
Estimates reflect FAA minimum hours, and most students need more than the minimum. Rates are subject to change, and completion times are not guaranteed. We do not accept GI Bill benefits.
Pricing questions, answered
Want a number for your situation? Call (863) 937-8045.
Do I have to pay a lump sum up front?
No. Legends is pay-as-you-go: you pay for each lesson as you fly it, with no contract and no lump sum.
Is there a discount for buying hours in advance?
Yes. Pre-pay 10 hours on any training aircraft (the Cessna 172s, Super Cub and COLT) and the 11th hour is free.
What does time building cost?
Dry time-building rates start at $45/hr in the Cessna 150 for 500+ hours ($55/hr for 50–500 hours) and $65/hr in the Cessna 152, with a 50-hour minimum block. Fuel and oil are on you. Split time with a safety pilot and it can drop to $22.50/hr each.
Can I finance my training?
Legends does not offer in-house financing, but we connect students with two independent aviation lenders: Stratus Financial and Flight Training Finance. Terms are set by the lender.
Do you accept GI Bill benefits?
No, Legends does not accept GI Bill benefits.
