All taught one-on-one. The FAA sequence runs Private, then Instrument, then Commercial, then CFI.

01 Private Pilot LicenseMost students start here Your gateway to the skies: fly single-engine aircraft anywhere, day or night. This is where most students begin.

Structured Part 61 training on the Gleim Private Pilot syllabus, with 20 hours of focused one-on-one ground school with senior instructors.

You master preflight, steep turns, slow flight, stalls, cross-country navigation, night operations and emergency landings, usually in a Cessna 152, 150 or 172. Estimated at $9,725 at FAA minimums (40 flight hours, 20 ground hours), paid as you go.

Start with a Discovery Flight: $99 in a two-seat trainer, $119 in a four-seat.

02 Instrument Rating (IFR)All-weather precision Fly in the clouds. The rating that makes you a safer, more capable pilot in real Florida weather.

Trained in our IFR Cessna 172 (N13129), following the Gleim syllabus.

You master precision and non-precision approaches, holding patterns, ATC clearances, scan technique and partial-panel flying in KLAL's towered airspace.

Estimated at $11,335 at FAA minimums (40 flight hours, 15 ground hours).

03 Commercial Pilot License (CPL)Fly for a career Get paid to fly. The certificate that opens a professional flying career.

Flown in our Cessna 172s (N13129 or N4382Q), with timebuilding in the economical Cessna 150.

You perfect chandelles, lazy eights, eights-on-pylons, steep spirals and power-off 180° accuracy landings.

Estimated at $6,775 at FAA minimums (20 flight hours, 15 ground hours). Our Career Pilot track takes you from zero to Commercial and CFI with a dedicated instructor.

How it works

Training built around you

A Private Pilot License at Legends is estimated at $9,725 at FAA minimums, paid lesson by lesson; how often you fly is the biggest factor in the final number.

We recommend booking 2 to 3 flight lessons per week.
